Here we are already, the final day of LFW. The pace had caught up with me, so I viewed events from the comfort of the Bethnal Green flat. I am going into training for next year - it's a fashion marathon not a style sprint.
Anya Hindmarch
Oh god. I assume you like bags, bags of attitude. And stickers like the ones you had at school. Anything that reminds you of school, and your far less complicated but cringy existence. Well, that's what Anya did. Speech bubbles, pencils, smilies. Think school girl customisation. These are the new It bags, get in quick because they're going to go fast.
Simone Rocha
Marabou. Using it means that you tread a fine line between romantic and kitsch. Luckily it worked for Simone Rocha, and added to the heightened sense of romance. It was used to edge everything - trousers, dresses, coats, bags, even the shoes which were stupendous! The camel/nude tones crossed the boundaries between the boudoir and outerwear, I especially liked the translucent belted trench. The red appliqué was a stand out look, and the tulle wrapped around the head and tied under the chin like a headscarf was pure romance.
Ashish
Glitter and celebrity were the main themes here, with plenty of tongue in cheek references and rule breaking galore. Ashish Gupta seems determined to bring glamour to the lives of modern women, and really pulled it off with excellent sequin use (I would totally wear the sequined jeans). Nothing escaped the sequin treatment - bomber jackets, trackies, sweatshirts were all suitable attacked and most importantly, wearable. Rainbow and snakeskin were the two standout themes. My favourite look turned jeans on their head - he left them zipped open, added braces and created a new shape for dungarees. The most coveted pieces will probably be the Kimye/Miley sweatshirts, recreated painstakingly from sequins - celebrity glamour in action. And the matching jeans rocked.
Meadham Kirchhoff
Well, this was an absolute RIOT. Paraded in front of a highly effective jumble sale like pile of stuff, all shapes, sizes and sexes strutted MK's anarchic collection. I love colour so I loved the complete disregard for any kind of palette.They threw out the craziest knee high tied sneaker boots paired with the brightest pants and knee-high socks, layered floor length patchwork shirts, latex/rubber everything, red strings (which resembled you know what) hanging off white rouched shirts. I especially warmed to the over sized multi-coloured blazers, and it definitely brought out the rebel protester in me.
I'm sad that LFW is over, but we have no time to get down, Milan starts tomorrow! Get ready for the likes of Gucci, Alberta Ferrietti and Moncler...
