Anyone eating out anywhere remotely trendy recently will be used to being met with a drinks menu the size of War and Peace, such is the growing list of craft beers being produced right now. Luckily you now have the opportunity to sample loads of them at once, with over fifty leading breweries from all over the world congregating under one roof at the inaugural Craft Beer Calling Festival, happening this weekend at the Boiler Shop.
The event will offer over two hundred cask and keg beers, with regional favourites in attendance including Wylam Brewery, Mordue, Allendale, Tyne Bank and the Bridge Tavern. Some of the national brands on offer are Five Points, Weird Beard, Hawkshead, Liverpool Craft Beer Co and Thornbridge. There's also some international breweries making their UK debut if you're looking for something brand new - The Yeastie Boys (great name) from New Zealand are introducing their keg beer, and are joined by Anderson Valley and Lagunitas from the USA and St Eriks and Sigtuna from Sweden.
If the sheer number of craft beer brands on offer isn't enough for you, there's also an artisan cider cellar, a gin bar and international street food a well as numerous Meet the Brewer sessions. The closing party will feature DJ extraordinaire Mr Scruff doing an epic five hour set and Newcastle's own dance masters Suono (DJs Greg Wilson and 586) also providing the soundtrack for your weekend.
