I'm totally loving Kit Neale's latest womenswear collection, based on a much loved 80s cartoon character.
Kit started his eponymous brand in 2012 and is based in Shoreditch (of course). The first London Collection Men featured his menswear collection which garnered a lot of critical acclaim, creating a strong platform for the brand's future successes. It's all about the vibrant patterns and images which cleverly reference British life and culture.
So why a Rainbow Brite collection? Why the hell not? After teaming up with Coca Cola and Opening Ceremony, December saw the announcement of his first womenswear collection - a collaboration with Hallmark to celebrate the 30th birthday of Rainbow Brite. Do you remember it on TV in the 80s? It’s not exactly a simple tale - Wisp, a little girl, comes to a colourless land. To bring the colour back she needs to find the Sphere of Light, then finds the colour belt and becomes Rainbow Brite. It’s all a bit woo. Anyway, the characters are still recognisable after 30 years, and due some love from today’s cool kids.
The capsule collection features both separates and knitwear, and characters the Sprites, Murky, Lurky, the kids and Rainbow herself with her horse Starlite. There’s a beautiful Rainbow Riviera dress (all illustrated Peckham street map and Peter Pan collar), some cracking culottes with embroidered patchwork characters and symbols, cute cartoon T-shirts and a spectacular faux fur collared coat.
You will literally be all the colours of the rainbow rocking these pieces.
You can buy the Rainbow Brite collection from Colette, Paris http://bit.ly/1HL2m8G
