I've been tweeting constantly about all of the lovely stylish gifts around this year so I thought I'd better blog about them before it's too late! So if you're short on last minute gift ideas, here are my picks of the best in books, jewellery and beauty. (My next post will feature fashion and interiors).
Books
Vogue Colouring Book (£10)
The colouring craze shows no sign of slowing down, and if you're going to get mindful and join in, the Vogue colouring book is a good place to start. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be and the pictures are very intricate. It features hand-drawn designs inspired by the pages of the iconic magazine in the 50s, and is a great stocking filler for the fashionista in your life. You can even share and compare your handiwork on Instagram using the hashtag #voguecolouringbook!!! I'll be sharing mine after Christmas!
Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue (£80 - Amazon)
This is a bit more of an investment and a serious coffee table tome. The book celebrates stylist Grace Coddington's thirty years of amazing work in fashion at British and American Vogue. This is a reissue of the 2002 book and of course the foreward is written by none other than Anna Wintour (Karl Lagerfeld also has contributes a few words). You cannot go wrong with this as a gift!
Karl Lagerfeld 2016 Diary (12.95)
The main reason that I want this is because it has the International Fashion Week dates (very handy) but there's plenty of other lovely features - illustrations of Chanel bags and Karl's signature gloves adorn the pages, alongside "Karlisms" scattered throughout. There's space for your important 2016 plans and dates as well as a yearly overview.
Jewellery
Mica Peet
I just discovered Mica Peet on Etsy and swiftly ordered a few pieces for my sister and friends. It's contemporary and very affordable, making it easy to want to buy it all. Her signature geometric shapes alongside butterflies, stags and other animals and insects. I love anything colourful and quirky and this fits the bill perfectly. Looking forward to opening my earrings!
Jennifer Meyer
I recently noticed Jennifer's playful and emotive jewellery on Net-a-Porter and instantly wanted to start saving! I love her statement necklaces which are perfect presents for women who are both playful and sophisticated - I love her Je t'aime necklace, bracelet and ring, her wishbone bracelet and the empowering pieces featuring words such as courage, strength and love. The majority of the pieces are 18-karat gold, as well as rose, white and yellow gold accentuated with semi-precious stones.
Vanina
I clearly have a thing for messages in jewellery at the moment - I came across Vanina whilst having my daily sift through the Colette website and loves the idea and the price (a necklace is 75 euros). With cute messages such as "You're the hip to my hop" they definitely get across how you feel without being too schmalzy! The creators are from Beirut and you can get pieces through the Colette website.
Beauty
Chanel Holiday 2015 Collection
I remember buying Rouge Noir nail varnish about ten years ago for the first time and vowing never to buy another nail polish again! When I saw that Chanel had brought out a collection based on Rouge Noir I got pretty excited and requested most of it for Christmas. I love the Illusion d'ombre eyeshadow - an intensely shimmery eyeshadow which can also be used as an eyeliner. The Le Top Coat Lame gold sparkle nail coat is a gorgeous gift - a multi-effect top coat which transforms nails into serious party mode.
Maison Kitsune x Shu Uemura
I love collaborations and cult Japanese brand Shu Uemura always teams up with the coolest brands to create covetable cosmetics. This time it's the trendy Maison Kitsune (the fashion and music label that marries East and West) who have put their own unique stamp on classic Shu products - the colourful harlequin design featuring French and Japanese graphics is a winner - I especially love the tricolore eyelashes!
I hope this has give you a few ideas for gifts or things to spend your Christmas cash on! My next post will feature fashion and interiors :)
