There was excitement amongst the Fash Pack at the Billboard Music Awards in Vegas last night as Balmain’s Creative Director Olivier Rousteing announced in style his up and coming collaboration with high street favourite H&M. With the help of his glamourous assistants, models Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner, who were rocking some of the collection, he followed in Alexander Wang’s footsteps of using a music event to cause a stir (Wang announced his H&M collab at Coachella).
Olivier wants to “talk to his generation” and knows the best way to do it - he had a hashtag (#HMBalmaination) ready to spread the word on Twitter (it didn’t take too long for that to happen). Rousteing joined Bamain in 2009 and took over at the helm in 2011. In just four years he has grown the label from a lesser known French luxury brand into a global phenomenon. The opulent yet modern pieces are often seen on Kimye on the red carpet.
We have to wait until November 5th for the collection to hit the stores (expect fireworks and a scrum), which will feature womenswear, menswear and accessories.
