I
love the fact that the shows are going to be happening in an Art Deco car park!
Two floors of the building will play host to the BFC Show Space and the Designer
Showrooms, where over 100 designers exhibit next season’s covetable clothing,
accessories and footwear. It’s already a
creative hub, showing numerous audio-visual installations and playing host to
arts and culture events. It was the
venue for last year’s International Fashion Showcase, where over 100 designers from around the world
had the opportunity to exhibit their work.
Prior
to Somerset House, LFW took place in famous venues across the city such as the
Natural History Museum, Battersea Park and the Duke of York Square. The move
will help to increase support for the UK Fashion Industry, which employs nearly
800,000 people and is worth £26 billion to the economy. There’s also a
programme of free talks open to the public.
The 62nd London Fashion Week takes place from 18 – 22
September 2015.
