After four weeks of men's collections, next week sees possibly the most creative and awe inspiring week of the annual fashion calendar, Paris Haute Couture Week. Atelier Versace takes centre stage on Sunday evening, before Schiaparelli, Christian Dior and Giambatistta Valli take to the catwalk on Monday 25th January. I will be watching the Chanel show live on Tuesday morning, Armani Prive and Alexandre Vauthier are showing in the afternoon. John Galliano's second outing for Maison Margiela takes place on Thursday morning, followed by Jean Paul Gaultier, Viktor & Rolf and Valentino.
Expect jaw-dropping fashion as art - remember Viktor & Rolf's Van Gogh's Girls at the their Fall couture show last July (the models stepped into actual framed paintings redesigned as clothes), and John Galliano's much anticipated first haute couture collection in all of its macabre-faced glory this time last year? Everyone wants to see Christian Dior post Raf - the design team are in charge of this couture collection this time around. Chinese designer Guo Pei was announced as a special guest designer - he famously designed the huge yellow gown Rihanna wore to the Met Ball last year (watch out for his show on January 27th). And what will the Chanel set be like? I personally cannot wait to post daily next week about the shows.
